A giclee print is an
extremely high end print. The images are printed with an eight colour
printer onto watercolour paper. The inks used and the longevity of the
archival water colour paper make it a very archival work of art, much
more so than a regular photograph. As it is a unique process, very few
printers actually exist so it is also quite expensive.
I have personally chosen to use the giclee process for my photographs,
as I love to photograph texture and make patterns with the textures I
photograph. Printing onto the watercolour paper enhances the qualities
I am already seeking in my photography. I print each photograph as a limited
edition of 15. I hope that you enjoy these one of a kind prints!
What is an artist proof?
In the printing process of the giclee prints I must proof the colour of
the print against my original slide. I do not crop my images; therefore
you can imagine that I want my colour to be exactly as I have photographed
it as well! The artist proof is the proof I, the artist, have approved
for the larger scale prints to go to print. They are unique- there is
usually only one proof per major print.
